Four 1-hour programs produced by the Special Project’s Department, WBRZ-TV, Baton Rouge, LA. (1976-77). Shown here are 3 covers from the complete scripts (with footnotes), which the two Baton Rouge dailies, The Morning ADVOCATE and the State Times, published as an educational service to the East Baton Rouge Parish School system, as well as to its entire viewing audience/readership.
Educational television had not yet opened in Baton Rouge, so the series was underwritten as if it had been produced by PBS. The four sponsors were credited only at each program’s open and close (as well as in all PR/print materials).
Louisiana Heritage, which was produced from 1976-77 during the Bicentennial of the American Declaration of Independence, was my inspiration for The Louisiana Rosary. The Rosary was produced for CatholicLife Television in 2003, the Year of the Rosary, as well the Bicentennial of the Louisiana Purchase.
Both productions have acted a training ground for my documentary, Living Mercy, which was my company, QuickHelp Productions’, first project (2011 – 2012).
